SPARK MAMA
Parenting young children is what I do. A sense of humor, an open mind, and a little self discipline will keep you buoyant. Welcome to my blog.
About Me
Motherhood is sweet, beautiful, fun, hilarious, emotional, confusing, surprising, frustrating, mind numbing, tedious, hard... I know. I've been there. Hello! My name is Taylor. I am currently a stay at home mom and my professional training is in psychotherapy and social work. I can, without a doubt, say my kids have been my best teachers when it comes to psychology, boundaries, and self care. I work daily to embrace the various challenges parenting continues to present. At the moment, I am mother of three young children: a daughter, age 5, and two young boys, ages 4 and 2. I am also pregnant with my fourth and final baby. We definitely have a large family by today's standards, but my heart and perhaps a little reason told me to plan for an extra kid or two. At this point in my role as mom, my ever evolving parenting style has left me with a few little tidbits of routine practice and wisdom which I hope to share with other parents and caregivers. My style involves learning how other parents are making their households run more smoothly. I also strive to be a pillar of emotional strength and comfort for my little ones. Finally, it's important that my children know they are vital parts of the household when it comes to being responsible, helpful and caring members of the family. I try to incorporate new and interesting practices into my parenting work based on what I learn from other parents or literature. Although sometimes things don't always work out as planned, I reimagine and tailor until we reach improved functioning. Goals are ever changing. Sometimes parenting is simply accepting a tough phase knowing it will eventually pass. A good sense of humor is helpful. Hopefully people visiting my blog will find something useful even if it is just gaining another's point of view.
